River is a repeat breeding of Tempo Aquila Rosamarina. Rosa is a dynamic yearling, in the Tempo herd, that recently appraised 89VEEV and is milking between 9-10lbs a day at a little over a month fresh. Aside from the fact that he has a full genetic sibling of Rosa, we wanted Riviera based on the strength of his maternal dam line. Not only have these does been strong in structural type, but they have also been extremely strong in the consistency of their milk production and components. Of course, having three successive generations of SGCH does is helpful as well! River is a tremendous buck that shows excellent width both in the front end assembly and in the rump. He exhibits great length, and one of the most outstanding rear leg sets I've ever seen, exhibiting a tremendous amount of width between the hocks and height to the escutcheon. Jack, his sire, is the son of 2008 National Champion SGCH Tempo Aquila Tokay 5*M. I remember seeing Jack as a kid and the tremendous length of body he showed. He seems to be passing that on to his offspring as well. We have seen some of Jack's daughters and have been impressed. His daughter, Fettucine, who happens to also be out of Tetrazzini, was the 7th place senior kid at the 2010 National show. Living Free, and Penelopy, two of his first daughters that have freshened, have become permanent champions; Penelopy as a 2yo first freshener and Living as a 2yo 2nd freshener. Ricci, River's dam, is out of Tetrazzini who has had a tremendous career in the show ring both locally and with several top 5 placings at the Nationals . Ricci, appraising 91/EEEE in '10, has really freshened out fabulous this year (2011) with tremendous production peaking at 18+lbs and an outstanding mammary to support that. We couldn't be more pleased to add River to our line up and look forward to using him in the fall. |
