What Buck is for sale?

While we can't guarantee what a buck will do in your herd, we can try to make your investment a little more sound.  Some have thought we are too picky, but when someone is paying hundreds of dollars for an animal to improve their herd, we feel a certain responsibility to send out animals of quality and the ability to improve traits.
We don't always get it right, but we try to the best of our ability.

We do not sell many bucks from first fresheners.  We just don't; unless that doe has freshened with an outstanding mammary and excellent production.  We have had several bucks born over the years that have been excellent examples of the alpine breed, structurally, but maybe the dam as a yearling just hasn't had the production we were happy with.  We wether those.  The doe may change and improve over the course of years and if she stays in the herd then we would offer future bucks from her for sale as a herdsire after she has proven herself a bit more.  Honestly, if we wouldn't use the buck ourselves, then we won't sell him to others.

We hope to watch out for our buyers as we would watch out for ourselves.  So please try to understand why we don't sell many first freshening does' bucks.  Our herd name is on the animal and if we do not feel it will represent our herd or the alpine breed well, then it doesn't go out as a buck.

Reservations and Sale Terms

Breeder's Section:

With genetics there are no guarantees, so we try to sell from our most proven lines.  Based on this, we reserve the right to not sell a pre-sold kid if in our opinion the kid is not suitable for sale.
We also retain the right to retain a pre-sold kid for herd replacement even if a deposit is placed on it.  We will try to find a suitable replacement in the event that happens and if we cannot reach an agreement acceptable to the buyer, will refund all deposits in full.

We reserve the right to purchase 20 straws of semen at the cost of collection on any buck we sell.
Sales are on a first deposit received basis.

In the event that a free breeding was negotiated within the sale, that breeding is good for the year of purchase to the original buyer of the animal.  It is not transferrable if the animal is sold to a third party.  Thank you for understanding in advance.

Buyer's Section:

Payments:  A deposit of $100.00 will hold the breeding of your choice, with the balance being due within 10 days upon notification of the birth of your kid choice.  If the kid of your choice is not born or is not offered for sale, your deposit will be refunded or transferred at your discretion.  If you desire, please make a second or third choice in case either of these options need to happen. We will do everything possible to find an animal that you feel is suitable for your herd.  Please read animal pages carefully as we include all performance info on each one.  You should find all the information you need on any given animal on their herd page.

Due to an increase of incidences of non payments and bounced checks ~ All ANIMALS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE LEAVING THE FARM.  If you need a payment plan, payments must be completed in full before the animal leaves.  Payments should be made by cash, or money order.  We will accept personal checks for deposits at least two weeks in advance of pickup.  Thank you for your understanding.

Shipping: The buyer is responsible for all registration/transfer fees, shipping fees with supplies, and health papers.   We make every effort to make firm shipping arrangements with the airlines.  We are not responsible for changes that the airlines make after booking is completed and are not responsible for vet fees, or materials purchased if airline changes happen that are out of our control.  We ship out of Portland international Airport.

Prices on the breeding page are good for pre-ordered kids only.

Health Policy

**We try to have our herd tested annually at the beginning of each year for CAE.  If you are concerned about the CAE status of an animal you wish to purchase, please request a copy of the test report at the time of purchase.  We can retest an animal for CAE at the buyer's expense, if requested, before the animal leaves our herd.  All animals will be sold healthy, but are the responsibility of the buyer upon the animal leaving our farm.  We are not responsible for any animal that tests positive for CAE after it leaves our herd and has been exposed to other herds or circumstances.  In the event that you sell the animal, we do not release health info on that animal to third party buyers, nor guarantee their Negative CAE status.**

Each Doe's CAE status is listed on their page.
